George Metz

George Metz is a creative professional development coach who has two decades of experience in the non-profit, public, and private sectors providing a wide range of services to professionals and students navigating various challenges and transitions. He holds a B.A. in Psychology from NC Central University and a M.S. in Leadership from Northeastern University with a concentration in Human Resource Management.

In 2013, George began his six-year tenure with Communities In Schools, Charlotte-Mecklenburg where he joined as the Adjudicated Youth Reentry Coordinator at West Charlotte High School. During this time he applied social capital principles to serve the students on his caseload. In his last two years at CIS, he used what he had learned at WCHS to build and evolve the Social Capital platform as the inaugural Social Capital Team Lead.

Through this experience, George gained expertise in social connectedness and community cohesion, fueling his passion for supporting organizations, communities, and individuals as they strive to reach the goals that represent their full potential. This led him to found Synergy Emerge, LLC in 2020, which has allowed him to train equip, and build strategies for individuals and organizations as they seek to build and sustain diverse relationships.

His consultancy has given him the opportunity to provide insight, training, and coaching on connectivity concepts to local and statewide organizations, such as the City of Charlotte, Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools and Communities In Schools NC. He has also applied his expertise to various projects for clients like Brookings Institution.

In addition to his consulting practice, George serves as the President of the Board of Directors and a mentor for Wayfinders, which allows him to stay connected to the students of the Charlotte community.

George and his wife Maya have three daughters.
